I have seen a crankshaft sensor that had a failure mode with symptoms just like yours. This one didn't even set a Cam/Crank mismatch fault. It's almost as if the sensor grounds out internally & tricks the controller into thinking the crankshaft isn't rotating. The sensor is on the RH rear side of the block. I don't recall what side the starter is on in the 05 Durango but if it's on the RH side the sensor is buried behind it.
