No, I'm saying a single known powerstroke getting a million miles in a van is an unrealistic way to determine the reliability or longevity of an engine in a truck application. I won't opine on a powerstroke, because I drive a cummins equipped dodge and am biased, Anyway, my point is that many, many gas gmc trucks can easily see 500k in regular use without being an event to admire. If you check the TDR magazine, there are relatively few people getting 1mm miles on their cummins equipped dodges. Does that make it a bad engine? If was in costa rica, putting an engine in a wc63 for the uses you describe, i would just get a 318 2bbl dodge engine and run on gas or propane. you would get your truck running the cheapest way possible and you would have reliability and ease of parts sourcing on your side. it is enough power to move your truck along nicely with stock gearing and you wont break axles. i cannot imagine an easier setup to install or change out if you ever get something you'd rather install.
