worked on way too many ford diesels inthe 90s. the average life of the bottom end was 125K when used 5 days a week for towing and hauling. cheap mexican block is the cause of their demise. the version that they put in the IH trucks is not the same block. ford has battled IH for years over the problem. they last a long time hauling groceris but not when used seriously. I was putting radiators in a fleet of commercially used Super Duty fords in less than a year from time of purchase. the cylinders acutally leak into the cooling passages under a load and blow the radiator.
