Has anyone ever noticed that a Chevy small block sounds totally different from a Mopar one (we're talking pre- 4.7/5.4 modern stuff)? I've always thought the 283, 327, 350, 400 and such just sounded loose and sloppy compared to the 273, 318 and other Mopar LA engines. Stock or 500 horsepower, I can always tell just by the sound which one is the Chevrolet. It's the same as telling a big block from a small block Mopar engine- big blocks sound completely different. I can't say that Ford, Jeep, or Buick engines have a distinct sound that I hear, but maybe there's some tell-tale thing there, too. Weird, but true.
