Are you wanting to do this for an increased availability in repair parts when you're on the road? Reason I ask is that I was concerned about that problem as I'd like to make mine up into a daily driver, and go out 5-600 miles on 3 to 5 day trips.

Increasing my chances of being able to get repair parts from a store out on the road seems like a nice idea. Not too many people even know what a flathead six is.
