Two different companies did swivel frames...Willock I believe was the most popular & they were done in Canada.
They don't seem to have any strength issues but they don't really have very good traction with open gearing as the frame just twists & then your one wheel spins free.
With the addition of ARB or Loc-Rite's, they seem to perform well.
If I owned one I'd definitely have a system to lock out the swivel for on road use & it wouldn't be difficult to do. I'd probably fabricate a hydraulically operated pin that locks the two cross members together.
There was very little extra weight...maybe 300lbs.
You could have these installed by Willock in virtually anything including the bigger trucks...none came from Dodge this way.
I forget the name of the other company. They may have been under license of Willock to install in the US but that's a guess.
