After draining all of the old gas I poured some dish soap into the tank then filled it with water. I let that stand for about an hour. Drained and thoroughly flushed it all out. I then took my electric leaf blower and set the nozzle in the filler hole for about a half hour then switched it to the sending unit hole for about an hour. Tank now dry, I inspected the interior and the metal all looks good. The filler hole is on top and has flat surface all around it. I figure if the sending unit hole can be sealed only with cork and screws, I should be able to bolt a cork-sealed flange to the tank. The nearest radiator shop is, I think, about fifty miles away.
