6 volt positive ground to 12 volt negative ground

want to convert 42 dodge wc-10 6 volt pos grd to 12 volt neg grd to get truck running, will disconnect everything else and rewire that later. swap to 12 volt battery, run positive cable to starter neg cable to tranny/frame to convert to neg grd. will run pos wire to key switch from key switch to coil to ballast then to dist. Am i correct to rewire in this manner or am I missing something important?
