This is what I did in California, IF you can believe it. I first bought a 1942 WC that sat on a ranch for 20+ years. It took a Statement of Facts, a Bill of Sale, a Temporary Move slip to drag it to a scale for a Weigh Certificate, a VIN inspection at my house by the local police dept., and a Title Application with proof of insurance. What did I get? after about $400 in varying fees for the above mentioned drama, I now have current registration, plates, and a clean title. That was a private party sale. I then bought a 1951 B3PW under the same situation from a scrap yard in Barstow, Calif. and the process pretty much went the same way. Both trucks were completely processed at my AAA office in Visalia, CA, with elapsed time under one month each for all the steps...I'm not making this up! HONEST!

Why is this important to you? Because if I could do all that with BOTH trucks here in Kalifornia, maybe you could do the same eleswhere out of state, then transfer that clean title to Illinois.
