We have talked about the filter problem at length over the past few years, here and also in great depth over on Gordon's Power Wagon Advertiser Forum.

In a nutshell, there were several different manufactures that supplied filtration systems for the WDX-WM300 model Power-Wagon. At one time the NAPA 1011 fit most of these different systems. Now 1011 has changed to a larger size and no longer fits correctly. The accepted filter now is the Baldwin JC405. They fit perfect in those canisters that used to accept the old Napa 1011, and they have the same construction and are dimensionally the same as the old MoPar supplied units.

If a hard canister type insert filter fits tight around the center stem, that is only half the battle. It must also seal to the bottom of the canister and have way for the canister lid to press and hold it tight to the bottom while still providing some compliance. This means that the hard canister insert filter needs a soft ring or seal around the bottom edge or rim of the canister. If dirty oil is allowed to pass around the bottom of the filter because of no seal there, then the filter will be doing no good. The old conversion kits that that were designed to replace the sock element with a hard canister insert all used some kind of spring between the canister lid and the element to force the element down, and to provide the compliance.

Save yourself the headaches and buy a JC405. Unless you have a real oddball canister, it will fit better than anything you will find anywhere else out there.
