There is a big difference in the two pumps, I have a 7.5 at work and it runs 16 hr's a day for a laundry system with no problems. The $1900 is a decent price, I've seen them around $ 2300 around the Chicago area. As far as CFM's go, sandblasting is going to be your biggest demand for air. Your electrical capacity is usually what dictates the max you can go with motor size, unless you have access to 3 phase power.
