I use a propane torch with the head removed and a foot or two of vacuum hose put over the end. Open the valve on the torch and blow propane into all the spots where there might be a vacuum leak. If the engine speed increases, you've found your leak. I don't like WD40 because it leaves oil residue that attracts dust.

I doubt Glen has a vacuum leak, though. For one thing, he knows the symptoms and how to find them. For another, if it was bad enough to cause that wild behavior, it would idle very rough or not at all.
