Put the hydraulic deal in between, pumped it up as hard as I could, stuck the pickle fork in, beat on it with a bigger hammer, and finally popped loose. Now to get it out of the A-arm. The whole assembly was clearly a "put it together once in the factory" design. Top ball joint is riveted in, bottom is pressed in very tight. Might have bent the spindle or backing plate, though, because now the brakes drag on the drum. Never have gotten the brakes to really work right on that Chevy. They always seem to tighten themselves up randomly and start dragging. Hell on fuel economy.

The only reason I keep it is it was my grandpa's and I remember when he bought it new. It looked real sleek and modern back then ('67). Still got his nicotine stains on the ceiling and his last NRA sticker on the window ('77) and I've still got the leather key holder that says "Marson's Garage Molalla Oregon", the dealer he bought it from.
