Inner Handle up side down? Remore control fore/aft adj?

Some ideas: The remote control. the part the inner handle mount to, needs a good snap to get into 'lock' detent. But the door has slots. Maybe it needs to be moved for/aft to require the spring to snap?

Or, they are not reversible, left/ right. If you can get them in reversed, maybe the detent won't snap? It would try to snap in 'open', not 'lock'?

Or if the handle is upside down, the weight might pop it into lock when slammed? My book shows handle down.
