There is still a hiway US 202 that was 2o miles long 2 lane right next to the old nas base that all of the muscle cars would drag race towards Refugio on and some would just make top end runs over 120 mph just to keep the gas pedal down for a sold topped out run for several minutes, rare to see cars coming the other way back them so lots of the 3.23 rear end ratios we used to take out there and let them top out, seems like the wipers would come up straight like at 110 on roadrunner and chargers and stuff back then, but a 4 speed car with 440 sure got to speed a lot quicker than a auto 727 did or at least seemed like it, saw lots of those r/t cars with 150 speed pegged but speedos are usually not acurate at high mph, seems like lots of those 440s would sling off all of the fan belts at top speed as well.lol
