pickup an interchange manual cheap on ebay. it should list the diffs between the engines. basically you have the long blocks and the short block flatties. all can fit your 62 with little changes in the case of shoehorning the larger block. the 237 251 265 series are all similar with the changes in crank, rods and pistons you noted. i believe that a flathead in a wc63 in a hilly area will be marginal for all but the slowest of driving. if you are planning on turboing, propaning, hot rodding as you have discussed, you are really wasting your time as you will blow headgaskets. you trade more revs and HP for reliability on a motor series that is marginal in such a heavy truck. if your plan is use and reliability, a cheap 2bbl propane'd 318 is likely your best bet. it will provide the needed rpm and hp to move your truck economically.
