Take the small pipe plug out of top rear of head next to #6 piston. Insert a small metal rod that will fit in the hole that is at least 6" long. Crank the engine up to the top of it's stroke watching the rod. Mark the rod at this point. Crank the engine until the rod is at's it's lowest point before it starts to come up. Mark the rod at this point. Remove it form the engine and measure the distance between the two marks. That should tell you the stroke of the engine. The 228 and 237 engines were the only 25" ones that had a stroke of 4.25". The 241 and 251 had a stroke of 4.50". The 265 had a stroke of 4.75". The Canadian 25" 201 had a stroke of 3.75 and the 25" 218 had a stroke of 4&1/16". Hope this info helps you out.
