I used black beauty, fine grit. About 12 bucks a bag. It took 20 bags for the drivetrain and frame, not a fun job. I stripped down to the bare frame and broke down the axles, springs and did them seperate. Painted with ppg epoxy primer and then single stage black. You will probably have to at least pull the drums to clean the grit out as it goes everywhere.
