One of the local metal suppliers had copper bits a while ago, 1/8 thick, small squares and longer strips. I bought a half dozen different shapes. Very handy for filling holes. But without being able to clamp them to flat back sides, not much help on the cab.
I have though about using a spring pole of some kind, but not worth the trouble.
Duct tape helps with small patches. It melts, but by then the patch is tacked. A magnet worked on the biggest patch, but you can't arc weld any where near it. The magnetism sends the arc a-dancin.
