I am part of a CBRN response team and we respond to various desasters, whether they be terrorist attacks or natural disasters. Before we go into the "hot zone" on any incident, one of us always calibrates (mostly for fun) our monitoring equipment on the truck exhaust. Deadly levels of CO every time. It isn't the unburned fuel that kills you, it's the burned fuel.
