Mounting it forward would be waaaay toooo much work. IIRC, the point of my proposal to do that was to use an easier to find Chevvie gear box, mounted outside the frame. Ir would restrict right turns when the tire hit it, so not a good idea. At least not for 11,00 x 16 Michelins.
