Will covered it well.

I did a lot of research before doing mine and there are a lot of different opinions on it!

What I did was get as much paint off as possible with the Brite Strip discs and do the body work(hammer/dolly/welding etc} Then I lightly sandblasted it cleaning the corners and such.

I chose to put the filler on the bare metal as the light blasting gave it plenty of bite. I block sanded it with 80 grit. I then sprayed it all with slick sand which is a sprayable filler. Most all this was block off and I used 150 grit dry.

I then sprayed on 2 coats of epoxy primer. No sand and waited 24 hours and sprayed the sandable primer. Blocked that all out wet with 500 grit.

I did use a sealer primer with no sand right before spraying the color. The sealer primer should be tacky before spraying color. The sealer is for keeping the color uniform but it can be skipped as it's not a "must do" thing.

I'm no expert admittedly but I was happy with the results of my first base/clear usage.
