In the grand scheme of things, one can sometimes find themselves gaining the most satisfaction out of accomplishing something that they have previously never tried - something that they are told, by the so-called experts, that they should NOT try because they themselves are not an expert at the given task - that they do not have the abilities because they have not been properly schooled in the given area, or have not gained the practical experience necessary. Remember, professionals are not necessarily experts. Being a professional at something just means you get paid to do it. It does not mean you are an expert. We all have to start somewhere or we would never get anywhere. Training oneself to be elf-sufficient is a good thing.

On the flip side, jumping into a task you have never attempted before and screwing things up beyond any hope of repair, is humbling to say the least, usually expensive, and occasionally dangerous. But, it too can be a good good learning experience.

It is a risk anyway you look at it. A professional could screw it up just as badly as you if they are not an expert on the specific components and applications.

I set up my own and got lucky. I certainly learned that I had yet to reach the limits of my abilities and this gave me the confidence to attack even bigger projects. Some of these were failures and I could clearly see my limitations in certain areas.

Do you see the adventure, the risk, the rewards fitting your personality?
