My notes are not as complete as I'd like, but I have eight head thicknesses, and they are all thinner chronologically. '41 thickest at 1.990, 58 thinnest at 1.905.

But the latest heads also fit tighter around the valves, which makes for better breathing.

But still, I'd like more measurements, with casting numbers. And any factory spec for original thickness, so we can estimate amounts milled off.

You can measure while on the engine with a dial caliber. Use the 'depth rod' from head surface at the second head bolt left side to the top of the head gasket. Let me know If I need to post a pic.
