OK, let me see if I understand you right. You put a line from a temporary tank to the pump and the pump will not suck in fuel. You pour gas down the carb and the truck will run. This means that the problem is between the intake to the pump and the intake to the carb. Did you test the fuel pump off the engine by working the arm and it works fine with the sediment bowl and the pump outlet is not clogged? If so, the only possible explanation is the cam is not moving the arm. If you haven't tested the pump off the engine, it could be the pump outlet is clogged, the line to the carb is blocked, or the needle valve and float wont let any fuel in the carb. You can try a gravity feed tank at the neddle valve to rule that out.
