It's a Dennan overdrive.
DO a search of Phil's archives on the main forum page and you will see lots on it. Another thing good about them is that you can remove it if you need to, without too much effort. For example if you decided to do some serious rock climbing and wondered about rocks impacting it.
I have pulled trucks out of ditches with mine installed as well as logs out of ravines without any difficulty.
