I dont think hydraulic has any advantages on a winch as small as the MU2. big machinery with huge winches have huge hydraulic systems that have big advantages over mechanical but on our trucks I think the PTO is the best way to go. it has your whole engine power at its disposal where as a puny power steering pump is limited in its output. no heat issues with mech PTO.
