the pre-66 426 Hemis were not a regular production vehicle, so that was remedied with the introduction of the 1966 426 Street Hemi.
Nascar homologation rules were set to production figures.....never understood why Ford was not required to put the Boss 429 in a Torino (for the consumer market) like they raced, rather than the Mustang which was never raced at Nascar events.
