Tim has the right idea. I did something similar, only I used brushable seam sealer in a can instead. Works great and its paintable. While I masked off my bead, I taped along the rain gutters and sealed those too while I was at it. When I pulled the tape the edges were nice and uniform and once painted, it looked like a factory job...
