thanks for your post Clint, great info, it looks to me from your pic above that the custom outer dual you describe will not hit the leaf spring

oops, maybe I'm wrong that is the front axle as I see the the knuckle steering arm and the front springs are further in than the rear if memory serves me

the 57 dually I am referring to came off the oilfield, the frame was reinforced like dan m current truck and the frame was cracked right where the reinforcement ended right in front of the spring hanger bracket

also the spindle was cracked on the outer end, plus it had about 20 leaf springs on it, no telling how much weight they put on that truck

what was interesting is I used the drums that had the outside diameter turned down a hair so the inner dually would slide by it, the truck had obviously ben thru the mill but the drums were within specs. and I used them with the duallys on my 47 wdx
