I'm no genius but this is what I would try. You'll need to know a few basic things about the engine:

1. Clyinder numbering system. Chrylser V-8's have #1 at the front left side (driver's side) cylinder with odd #'s on the left and even #'s on the right.
2. Firing order (may be cast into intake manifold). Most Chrysler V-8's are 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
3. Distributor direction of rotation (you can crank the engine and watch the rotor to find this out).

Put the No. 1 piston at top-dead-center on the compression stroke. The timing mark should be on "0" and both valves completely closed. Assuming the distributor is installed correctly, the rotor should now be aligned with the #1 spark plug wire. Install the #1 wire and then the adjecent dist. terminal goes to the next cylinder in the firing order. Do this around the circle and it should be right.
