I'd look at a late model WM300 with a 251 and compare the changes from the 230. The factory would have done this upgrade in the easiest and cheapest way.

I'm not an expert on civvie PW's, but I would look to see if the radiator shells are the same or if they moved the hole on the later trucks. I'd check the tank top on the radiator. I really doubt the entire nose was lengthened. That would cost a lot in tooling expense. The difference has got to be something easy and cheap.

Perhaps someone with a 251 engine could measure how far from the rear lip of the radiator shell the hole is for Drew, and where the filler neck is on the radiator.

I'll bet that the 251 swap will be easier than you might think.
