No reason to stick with the 16.5 rim other than you have them already. I don't have any trouble useing a 16.5 and finding tires that fit it. The only downfall a 16.5 has is that the bead does not lock into the rim the way that a 16" wheel does; thus, if you air down off pavement you have a higher chance of having the tire come off the rim.
Any 8 lug wheel off a Dodge or Ford should bolt right up ( the center hole on some G.M. wheels is too small ). Just be aware of the amount of offset your rim has and try to match it. Most aftermarket steel wheels would work for you and don't cost that much.
