For several years, I have thought of the possibility of using some sort of device to lock the brakes on my Power Wagon. My thought is that when I go into work or some other place for extended periods, I could use the brake-locking device as a security feature. When thieves are determined to get your vehicle, they sometimes back a trailer up to it, and roll it onto the trailer and haul it away. If there were some sort of a system, by which I could apply the brakes and flip a switch, and have them remain locked after I leave, I think it would make it much more difficult for them to roll it onto a trailer, particularly if all four wheels are locked! The switch could be placed inside a lockable box, and hidden away from view.

I had never heard of such a device until Bob submitted his question about the Mico lock. It sounds just like what I was looking for.

The only problem is, I'm worried about leaving the system pressurized for hours at a time. I tend to think this may not be good for it. MT Bob says he prefers not to do that, either. I was wondering if anyone has any experience, thoughts, knowledge of this?

I want to do whatever I can to make it as difficult as I can, for those thieves to get my Power Wagon. Before I began restoring it, I used to drive it 2 - 3 times each week, to work, to school, to my friends' houses, etc. When I get finished with the resto, I intend to drive it often again. I don't intend to live in fear, keeping it as a garage queen. I want to use it, but I want to minimize the risk of theft.

Any thoughts on this as a security device?

Thanks,

Matt
