Yes the old MICO lock up....This is common in systems that are not used very much. I have one on my PW fire truck along with my American LaFrance.....The MICO is a hydraulic locking device which locks the fluid in the system. The MICO is simply a one way valve. Chrysler first offered it ( and i do beleive it was produced bt MICO) in 1939 on trucks as a simple fluid lock. They also offered it in cars as AUTO STOP....were it would automatically release when the gas pedal was depressed. We all know this as a HILL HOLDER. As a matter of fact SUBARU still offers it today.

The first thing to do is to work the valve. Engage it and disengage it several times. The main cause to them sticking is contaminated brake fluid. If it continues to stick...try flushing the system with new brake fluid....If this does not work then take it out and flush with ISOPROPYL alcohol followed by new brake fluid. If that does not work then a new replacement is needed. MICO does have an excellent web site....< a href=http://www.mico.com> WWW.MICO.com. I believe the 2 vacuum boosters are for the brakes and not part of the MICO.

This unit was converted by HOWE which makes it a HOWE so there will be technical information on it. I will check in my files to see what I have which may help you out.

Have you tried SPAAMFAA??? Excellent source for information on fire trucks. Last issue of the their magazine was on brush fire trucks. Check it out at: SPAMMFAA or wsfire SPAMMFAA .

How about a picture of your rig???
