I know this has been brought up in previous forums but I can't for the life of me find the saved replies.
IS IT OK TO INSTALL AN ELECTRIC MIDLINE FUEL PUMP AND LEAVE THE FUEL LINE STILL ROUTED THROUGH THE OLD MECHANICAL OR DO I NEED TO BYPASS THE OLD PUMP?
Poor old mechanical died this weekend. I had a backup electric pump to get me home. Just hooked up the wires and drove home without modifying the fuel line, worked fine but for how long? It will run on the old pump but it is short winded, hard to start, stalls easy, and sounds like it is running on only a couple cylinders. When it is cold it runs fine but not when it warms up. I don't see how this could be vapor lock because nothing has changed and it has never done this before at normal operating temps under normal driving. Must not be pumping enough PSI, only enough to idle it seems.
I am going to miss that pump, nice and quiet.
