If you go to a tire store and ask for a 9.00R16 likely they will look at you like you are on hallucinogens.
The 9.00-16 military tire is 34-36" tall and 9-10" wide. Radials in this range are specialty tires and not found in any ordinary tire store.
The cheapest tires in this range are 305/85R16 Buckshot Mudders or Coyotes, with mud and highway tread respectively. They have polyester sidewalls, steel belts in the tread, and a load capacity of 24-2500 lb, less than the 3030 of the military tire. Next up is a 36X12.5R16 radial Swamper. It has steel belts and a stronger nylon casing, with an aggressive mud tread. Load capacity is still about 2500 lb/tire. Definitely the strongest and "best" radials are the Michelin military radials. They have a steel sidewall and 3 more steel belts in the tread. The 9.00R16 XZL is 10.3" wide and 37" tall, and has a load capacity of 3750 lb @ 65 psi and 4660 lb @ 80 psi.
They all fit on the stock split rims. Prices range from about $140 for Buckshots and Coyotes, $180 for Swampers and $300 for Michelins. In tires one usually gets what one pays for.
