Well, there I believe Brian hit the nail on the head. The most generic oil off the shelf is perfectly fine as long as it's maintained properly. It's when we go way past the useful life of the oil that the various qualities of different lubricants show through. Don't get me wrong, I use Amsoil, among the best for protection against abuse(not changing as often as we should, overheating, etc). But heck, if you properly maintain it, you could run castor oil.
