Yes I know this Tom , what I meant was that a head with the word spitfire doesn't necessarily mean anything concerning the actual eng. size and that the eng. # would be what identified the eng. and even that is only gonna tell you what it came from the factory as. I could have an original 251 64'WM300 engine according to the block #'s (which I own) but it could have been rebuilt with a 265 crank and rods and sport a spitfire head actually making it a 265 (which is what was in my 1st PW I referred to in my 1st post). I asked what size eng. those #'s indicated he said 251,but when I gave the rebuild # off the tag to see what oversize the components were and so I'd know how much life or rebuilds it had left, he informed me it was now a 265 by what the records showed.So block ID #'s only tell you what it came from the factory as,and thats what most stay .
