I'm not sure why it would be any more dangerous than a sickle-bar mower or one of those rotary brush mowers that doesn't have the blade totally covered all around. All are dangerous and all taken together are probably responsible for fewer injuries than chain saws. Just a few days ago a friend of mine was limbing overhead with a saw that was probably too heavy for her to handle. It slipped and cut through her jeans and long johns and drew a fair bit of blood from her leg, but thankfully no serious injury. At least with these brush mowers the operator is a good distance away from the blade unless they get thrown. With a chain saw it's right there ready to remove your leg or face in an instant. I had a neighbor once who sliced his face right open with a chain saw. Yes, alcohol was a factor.

What I don't understand with this particular brush cutter is how those toothless blades cut. The first pair of blades seems to be sort of oblong somehow, but the others are just disks. They don't slice across each other like a mower. They're more like a deli meat slicer blade. I just can't see the use of it. A little 14" chain saw is easy to handle all day long, will cut close to the ground, if you hit rocks, spare chains are cheap, and you can use it for limbing trees and bushes you don't want to totally cut down, and for the occasional larger log as well. This is one of those inventions that's a solution in search of a problem.
