Used to prowl every wrecking yard in texas especially the ones down on the rio grande that were breaking 5 to 10 tractors a month and really get some bargins, Mexico would take the dozers apart and put them back together to avoid payinf duty on them, duty papers were sold over and over again with the simple serial numbers, they would buy the set of stamps at Western Auto and make the new alumium serial number tag and grind off the old serial number and stamp in a new old one to match the papers, I remember seeing big piles of dipsticks, oil cover caps and misc left overs left in feild where they finally had to quit due to the epa regs about oil hitting the ground in the yard down there, one of best things i ever bought down there was a bar b que pit made out of a 1950s d8 or d9 disel tank with racks and smokestack made out of the filler necklol Crazy how much things have changed now in the used parts places, nothing can drip on the ground anymore.
