joe, thanks & yes it is very sturdy. it is a south shore of long island design from the 30s and before. in its current form, it was built by a father and 2 son team that still service grovers and are still active in the fabrication / marine business. the parts were all sourced locally, so going to any of the local marine shops is fun. mention you are working on a grover, and they know what you need. the bottom is flat allowing it to be beached for unloading of fish / loading of supplies, cleaned and the design allows easy access to the prop and rudder which are protected by a bronze skeg. the rear end of the boat tapers to a narrow transom so it doesn't get pushed by following waves that are so common in the south shore inlets. i prefer it to the clorox bottle designs that seem so popular these days. there is a groverbuilt, sans radar tree, featured in the empire boardwalk series, first episode! it looks right at home next to the more accurate for the period NJ rumrunner.
