I agree. It is a safe sport in the grand scheme of things. There are a lot more injuries from playing high school football. It teaches young people valuable lessons about life (no teamwork here), and since it is the most physically demanding sport short of professional soccer, it is a great way to keep fit. The protective gear was quite good in the 1970's and I imagine it is a LOT better now. Everyone is traveling in the same direction...the list goes on.

I was not worried about getting hurt. I was not worried about her not getting over it if I did get hurt. What worried me was that I caught myself thinking about all of this while I was racing. I took that as a bad sign.

It is hard though. I try to avoid watching races and searching about it on the internet. It is kind of like an addiction. The further away I stay, the easier it is.

Now you got me thinking about it all over again. Thanks a lot Marty! ;^)
