I worked at IHC the summer of 1956 in quality control on the bell housing line. I was one of two inspectors - one per shift on each of two shifts.
We did contuous spot checks of the machines to see that they were performing to specifications and then a 100% of the bell housings to make sure that all machining operations had been done.
My final task was to mark each bell housing with my initial "C" to show it had been inspected. My mark was in blue, indelible ink on the top part of the bell housing that would have been closest to the firewal.
