WC 3/4 ton ring gear tooth count for 6 volt

I have several ring gears some have 162 teeth and some are 174 teeth.
I also have some that are 186 teeth.
I am right that 162 is 6 volt starter and 174 is 12 volt starter or is that backwards?
Also what is the 186 tooth for V8?
