In the dim reaches of my memory, I seem to recall scratching up some trailer fenders. But the PW tires may have been flat. Or tuck may have been a '41 1/2t?

Use the truck suspension as a 'spring scale'. When loading a trailer first thing to do is measure the bumper height. Then I sit on my tailgate and re-measure. The difference is how much 250# lowers the truck. Load the trailer to get at least twice as much compression, that gives 500# tongue weight. Lower with heavier loads. You want about 10% tongue weight, include the trailer. Works for me, but I'm a certified test weight. ;^)
