We have stuff here called "slusher cable" that works well. That's a mining term. I'm not sure what it might be called at a rigging shop that's not in a mining district. A slusher is a small air-powered winch that's used underground to drag a scoop to pull muck from the end of a stope towards an ore chute. The winch drum is only a little bit bigger than a truck winch, and they get used very roughly with lots of water, mud, and grit all over them. The miners make no attempt to lubricate the cable, so they wear them out pretty fast.

Basically for flexibility you want lots of strands and a fiber (rather than wire) core. The core is supposed to hold lube too, if you oil your cable from time to time. Keep in mind that the diameter of the winch drum is considerably less than the minimum bending radius recommended in the rigging books. That means even good cable will likely take a set and wear out faster than it would on a big drum such as would be used on a crane or a power shovel.
