great! I just went out and measured my 251 from back of engine to water pump pulley bolt head and is was 33 inches. the 230 was 31 inches. measurements taken with eh later style water pump. you might make it work with no dog house by having no fan, and it looks like the 6at has a fairly short head and it might let you slide the engine back under the firewal a hair farther than the flathead. what year is your PW? getting the nose section off of a 61 and later truck should not be too hard to do.
