From what I have read, regular differential oil is OK as long as it is labeled safe for use with bronze metals.
Stay away from racing and other special purpose or off-brand lubes that may have extra sulfur or additives harmful to bronze.
I'd say the Lubriplate SPO product would be the safest bet. As I remember, it is about $7.00 a quart and was available from NAPA or online.
