I use 85/140 because I have lots of it and my seals don't leak. I slather any used oil I've got on the cables from time to time to reduce rust. I have a bucket of "exposed wire rope and gear lubricant" but am saving it for when I get my saw mill set up. Main thing is that any oil or grease is a whole lot better than nothing. My first M37 came with its MU2 bronze gear ruined and nothing in the gear box but water and bronze dust.
